In 1986, St. Aloysius Parish established the Center. Since its beginning, more than 1,000 children from St. Aloysius Parish and the surrounding community have been part of the Center program.
At the Child Care Center, we believe that every child is unique. We respect each child’s individual development and needs. We give each child a secure base from which to explore and learn about the world around him/her. As you enter the “family” of St. Aloysius Child Care, you become a part of a special experience in the life of your family and your child.
Thank you for trusting St. Aloysius Child Care Center with the care of your young child. We look forward to getting to know your family better and to sharing the experiences and excitement of the next few years with you.

Dear St. Aloysius CCC parents,
I am pleased to announce my hire of Mrs. Sharon M. Mason as the new Director of the Child Care Center of St. Aloysius Church. I solicited her formal application and offered her the position after a personal interview and upon the unanimous recommendation of our Search Committee. Mrs. Mason holds a B.A. in Elementary Education, an M.Ed. in Early Childhood Education (LSU), and is currently working on a second M.Ed. in Curriculum and Instruction. She was Director of St. John’s Children’s Center on Highland Road, and Assistant Director at the Early Learning Center of First United Methodist Church downtown, and for the past 13 years has taught in the Livingston Parish Schools System, most recently as head of the Foreign Languages department at Live Oak High School in Watson. Sharon is also fluent in Spanish, Portuguese, French, and Italian.
A native of Rio Piedras, Puerto Rico, she is one of five siblings. She met her husband Lance 25 years ago at LSU when working on her M.Ed. degree and has been here ever since. Lance and Sharon reside in Walker, and are members of Immaculate Conception Parish in Denham Springs. Their son Connor is a SrA in the active duty USAF, currently stationed at Keesler AFB, MS. Their daughter Raquel is at LSU, soon-to-be in Law School.
While early childhood education is her first love and expertise, Sharon’s work experience has followed her own children as they grew to young adulthood. Now that their careers are well on their way, she is delighted to return to her love for children and devote her extensive training, administrative experience, and skills to their formation at our Child Care Center. She looks forward to meeting and working with all our Center staff, and to meeting all our children and families! Mrs. Mason will begin her orientation and getting ‘settled in’ this week! Please join me in extending to her a warm welcome to our St. Aloysius family and making her feel at home!
I’m extremely grateful to Ms. Tina for taking the past 7 weeks out of her classroom to serve as interim-director, and the wonderful job she has done, and will continue to do in helping Mrs. Mason get ‘up-to-speed!’
I’m very grateful to Dr. Brooke Cole and our Parent Advisory Council members for all their help rendered Ms. Tina and the staff in ‘holding down the fort’ with all the ongoing and upcoming CCC activities and events.
I know that all of you will join me in special thanks to the leadership of Fr. Eddie and all the members of the search committee for all their time, meticulous efforts, and thorough discernment involved in the search process and screening the interest of 50 candidates! These include Dr. Brooke Cole, Jason Riggs, Matt Zylicz, Lisa Kirk, Allison Pham, and Ann Michael Lagarde. It was no easy task, but they all did a ‘Yeoman’s job!’
Love and prayers,
